Prior to joining Steward Media, Fishman worked in the legal field, primarily in the insurance and real estate industries. He has also spent time working as a consultant to a number of political campaigns in the metropolitan Detroit area. Before law school Fishman worked as a political reporter, news anchor, and talk show host for Clear Channel Communications in New York. Fishman’s political background includes relationships with Governors, Senators, Congressman, and numerous state and local leaders across the country. His insider knowledge of the political realm makes him an asset for any campaign’s strategic needs.
Fishman’s interest in politics and the world of communications began in high school, nurtured by his high school’s radio program and the willingness of local political leaders to include him in a number of campaigns even at the age of 14. Fishman went on to study Broadcast Journalism, Middle Eastern Studies, and Political Science at the prestigious S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in New York. Fishman studied Arabic and the Middle East at the American University in Cairo, Egypt.
Fishman is active in his community, excited to become involved with the growing number of young leaders who have also chosen to make the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan home. He hopes to inspire others to do the same. Fishman is a member of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit NextGen Board, the Hillel of Metropolitan Detroit Board, liaison to the American Jewish Committee Detroit Board, a member of the Oakland County Sheriff Advisory Council, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Chaldean Chamber of Commerce, the Walk for Israel Detroit Board, the Birmingham Bike Festival Committee, and the Temple Shir Shalom Brotherhood. He is also a proud Washington Club member of pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC.
Fishman lives in downtown Birmingham, and enjoys bicycling, running, and yoga in his spare time.
