Lori Lamerand is the President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan. A lifelong advocate for women’s health and reproductive rights, she began with the affiliate as a medical assistant in 1985. During her tenure, Lamerand also worked as Director of Education, Director of Patient Services and Vice President of Medical Affairs before being named CEO in 2005.
Lamerand has led Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan through the largest geographic and patient census expansion in its history, growing from two sites serving 5,000 patients in 1995 to 15 health centers with a patient census of nearly 60,000, and serving another nearly 17,000 with educational programming today.
For 18 years, Lamerand has also served on the Family Planning Advisory Council for the Michigan Department of Community Health. She currently serves as the Board Chair for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Michigan. She is recognized in Michigan as a leading expert on women’s reproductive health care. Nationally, she has a reputation for her outspoken support for high-quality, affordable reproductive health care for all women and men, especially those without insurance coverage.
Lamerand earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Michigan State University in 1984, with a concentration in Adolescent Sexuality. She is a single mom of three sons and enjoys outdoor adventure including hiking and scuba diving.
